Start with comfort and familiarity
Favorite chair, family photos, a familiar blanket, reading glasses, hearing aids, and daily routines matter more than filling every corner. The goal is a room that feels safe and personal, not crowded.
Furniture and layout
Measure the new space when you can. Bring only what fits comfortably and leaves room to move safely. A small dresser, nightstand, lamp, and comfortable seating often go further than too much furniture.
Clothing and personal items
Pack for the current season plus a few versatile pieces. Label important items. Include toiletries, medications in their proper containers per facility policy, and any approved personal care items.
